What we do
Most of our calls are repairs. Water’s getting in somewhere, or a chimney has started to move. We also build new, and we keep commercial buildings on a maintenance schedule. After thirty years of Nova Scotia winters there isn’t much we haven’t had to fix.
Red Seal certified. It’s the national standard for bricklaying in Canada, and you earn it by passing a written and a practical exam. Worth asking any mason you call whether they hold one.
01 · Repair & restoration
Failed mortar is behind almost every masonry problem we see. We cut it out and replace it properly, with a mix that suits the brick around it. Too hard a mix and the new joint will crack the face off the brick.
02 · Chimneys & fireplaces
A chimney takes weather from every side at once, so it’s usually the first thing on a house to go. We rebuild from the flashing up and pour proper crowns with a drip edge, so nobody’s back up there in three winters.
03 · New build
New walls, veneer and features, laid to the same standard as the repair work. Straight courses, full joints, and a proper base underneath, whether it’s a garden wall or a full storey of block.
04 · Commercial
Clear scopes and scheduled work, with a fixed price agreed before anyone starts. Big repairs can be phased across budget years if that suits how the money is set.
